Mat Manual companion guide to "Uchi Mata: The Throw Everyone Wants." Print it. The article teaches why the throw is a rotation the leg assists. This reference specifies the technique, grades the classic hikite-driven entry from the side of the mat, programs uchikomi and nagekomi by standard rather than by enthusiasm, gates the ken-ken variation behind the standing finish, and ends with a twelve-week landing plan.

Name: ______________________________ Dojo: ______________________________ Grade: ______________ Stance: ☐ Right (migi) ☐ Left (hidari) Main entry: ______________

BEFORE ANYTHING: safety and partner agreements, pass or fail ☐ Ukemi (falling technique) before throws, always. Uke receiving uchi mata must have a checked forward-rotating fall, chin tucked, arm slapping wide, no straight posted arm, before the first full rep in this book. ☐ The sweeping leg contacts the inner thigh only. No contact to the groin, no sideways drive into a knee, no full-speed rep into tangled feet. A rep that cannot meet this stops and resets slower. ☐ Tori keeps uke's sleeve through every landing in drilling. An unguided rotating fall is a failed rep, however clean the entry looked. ☐ Ken-ken work (Part 13) is gated. No player drills it before the standing classic finish passes Part 4, and no uke receives it before their landing grades in Part 9 are clean at travelling speed. ☐ Joint pain that changes how you move the next day, groin pain of any kind after a session, or any knee complaint from a tangled rep leaves drill territory. Record it in Part 26 and route it to a clinician. ☐ Mat space behind and beside the throwing line is checked before every set. This throw travels and rotates, and late finishes travel further.
