Mat Manual companion guide to "The Bar Arm and the Chicken Wing: Catch's Other Bent Arm." Print it. The article settles the names and the family: double wristlock, hammerlock, bar arm, chicken wing, one joint and four finishes. This book puts the whole family on cards: each hold with its entry, its finish, and its safety limit printed on the same card, a right-angle reference a pair can police without a referee, force-progression rules from walked-through to chained, and a sign-off sheet recording who has felt each hold before applying it.

BEFORE ANYTHING: THE SAFETY LAW OF THE BENT-ARM FAMILY ☐ The trapped arm is never forced past a right angle to the line of his body. That is the officials' line in folkstyle and this room's line in catch. If the arm will not travel without being forced past it, the application is finished. What remains is control. ☐ The tap comes at pressure, not at pain. In this family, pain is a late report, and the shoulder pays for every late tap. ☐ Every finish is a walk: slow, incremental, driven by hips and position, stoppable at every inch. Nothing in this book is yanked, ripped, or fallen on. ☐ The release on any tap, physical or verbal, is instant and total, before anyone discusses the rep. ☐ A student feels each hold applied slowly, and is signed off in Part 23, before applying it to anyone. ☐ Students with a shoulder history stay out of finishing work in this family until a coach, and where it applies a clinician, says otherwise.
