Mat Manual companion guide to "The Other Doors Out: The Sit-Out and the Switch." Print it. The article completes the bottom map: the stand-up, the sit-out platform, the turn-in, and the switch, each keyed to what the rider offers. This book trains the doors: the tripod as a position card with checkpoints, the turn-in and the switch as step cards with doses and pass marks, hip-heist progressions, a decision chart keyed to the rider's weight, and drills that hide the rider's commitment so the choice itself is what gets trained.

BEFORE ANYTHING: THE RULES OF THE BOTTOM, IN THIS BOOK ☐ Doors are chosen by reads, never by favourites. A drill in this book scores the read as heavily as the escape. ☐ The posted hand stays close, under the hip, in every sit-out rep. A wandering posted hand ends the set and the tripod is rebuilt. ☐ Head up in base and in the tripod, every rep, called by partners until it holds under pressure. ☐ The rolls cross-referenced in this book (Peterson, Granby) stay behind their own books and gates. This book opens the doors it owns: sit-out, turn-in, switch, hip heist. ☐ A rider who cannot give honest resistance at the signed level rides a dummy or a coach's demonstration instead. Bottom drilling against dishonest weight teaches doors that do not exist. ☐ Any shoulder or neck complaint stops the set; the sit-out loads a posted arm and the complaint is training information, not weakness.
Part 1: The Bottom Map — Doors and Their Keys
| Door | Its key (what the rider does) | Its prize |
|---|---|---|
| Stand-up | Nothing: the default | Your feet |
| Sit-out turn-in | Weight on your back, a moment in base | Facing the rider, ride spent |
| Switch | A reach for your far hip, weight committing to one side | A reversal: his hip, then his ride |
| Sit-out to Peterson | A reach across your back | The trapped-arm roll (its own book) |
| Sit-out to Granby | A hard follow with forward weight | The rolling escape (its own book, gated) |
| Hip heist (engine) | Any sit-out start | The swing both the turn-in and the switch ride |
