This book turns it into reps: the entry broken into checkpoints, the setups as drill cards, both head positions held to a written standard, and the three finishes built as progressions you pass in order.

SAFETY, BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE ☐ A lifted partner is returned to the mat under control, never spiked, never dropped on the head, neck, or a straight posted arm. In drilling, the return runs at drilling speed until the coach raises it for the pair. ☐ A shot that ends with your head wrapped, your neck cranked, or a choke closing is abandoned. The bail-out in Part 15 is a graded technique in this book, not a failure. ☐ Knee contact on the penetration step is light. A student whose knee is sore sits out knee-down entries and tells the coach the same session. ☐ Sprawling partners land hips on the shooter, not bodyweight through the neck. Any neck pain, tingling, or weakness in an arm stops the session for that student. ☐ Live shots run only at the resistance stage the coach has signed for the pair, in Part 24. Stages are per pair, per week, and revocable.

Part 1: How This Book Runs

The double leg is trained here as a chain with five links: setup, level change, penetration step, contact, finish. A rep is scored on its weakest link, not its best one. Every drill in this book names the link it trains, the dose, and the pass mark. Do not skip links. The student with a beautiful finish and a bent-waist level change owns a sprawl target, not a takedown.

Working speeds. Three speeds are used throughout. Shadow speed: solo, no partner, full form. Drilling speed: partner present, cooperative to half resistance, slow enough that a coach's call stops any rep mid-motion. Live speed: full shots in rounds, Part 22 only, after Part 24 gates are signed.
