Safety First
- Warm up hips, hamstrings, and knees before power work. Cold legs snap, they do not drive.
- Power kicks go to pads, shields, and boards held by a trained holder. Never to a partner's body at full force in drill work.
- Holders brace before every kick and keep fingers clear of the strike line. A holder who is not ready calls it, and the kicker waits.
- Stop a set when the chain breaks down and stays broken. Tired repetitions teach the fault you are trying to remove.
- Boards: your instructor chooses the board and the count, not your ambition. Children break boards sized for children. Never practice breaking on furniture, bricks, or anything held by an untrained friend.
- If a knee, hip, or ankle hurts sharply during pivot work, stop and get it looked at. Pivoting under load is real work for those joints.
