SAFETY, BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE ☐ Pressure drills are fenced games at agreed contact. Cutting off a partner's space never licenses throwing harder at a cornered partner; a cornered partner in drills can call a reset at any time. ☐ Ropes and cage walls are part of the training space. Partners are never driven through the ropes or slammed to a wall in drilling. The corner closes with position, not impact. ☐ Footwork volume builds over weeks. Calf, ankle, and knee complaints that linger between sessions cut lateral-step volume before they cut form. ☐ Movers in drills move at the stage's agreed speed. A mover who sprints to embarrass a learning cutter ends the drill and the lesson with it. ☐ Live games run at controlled contact, and clinch entries at the ropes are grips first, knees only per the round's agreement. ☐ Open-mat cutting drills mark the floor boundary clearly. Nobody is cut off into furniture, mirrors, or another pair's space.

Part 1: The Lane Map

Divide any space the same way. The mover stands at the center of your map; the lanes are the useful directions of escape.

Part 1: The Lane Map
LaneDirectionWho owns it when it is closedThe closing tool
Lane AMover's path to your lead sideYour lead-side weaponsLateral step plus roundhouse across the path
Lane BMover's path to your rear sideYour angle step and rear weaponsAngle step back, teep, switch kick
Lane CStraight back to the ropes or boundaryThe wall itself, once you herd the mover therePatient forward lanes; never a rush
Lane DThe pivot out, past your shoulderYour straight punches and clinch entryPosition half a step outside power range
Lane EStraight at youYour clinch, knees, and the teepThe advance is a gift: receive it, do not retreat

Map drill (paper). Draw your training space. Mark the center, the corners, and the five lanes from three different starting positions your partners actually use in real rounds. Keep the drawings in this book; the tracker and the teaching sessions refer back to them, and redrawing the map after the six-week build is a fair measure of how much clearer the space has become.
