The double wristlock is catch wrestling's signature bent-arm lock: both your hands own his wrist, his arm bent with the hand driven toward his own shoulder blade, rotating the shoulder. Beginners catch this grip constantly and finish it rarely, because the finish is not in the grip. It is in three controls: a pinned wrist, an elbow on the right line, and a torso that cannot turn. This reference prints those controls position by position, answers the six standard counters, and doses the drills that build the finish in the only order that is safe: catch and release first, pressure last.
The Safety Frame, Read First
☐ Apply slowly, in inches. The finish is a few inches of movement taken steadily. Nothing in this guide is ever cranked, yanked, or finished with a fall of body weight. ☐ The tap comes early on this hold. Tap when the elbow leaves its line and rotation starts, not when the pain peaks. Shoulder damage on a cranked lock can arrive before strong pain does. ☐ Release on the tap, instantly, every time. No finishing the rep. The tap ends the hold the way a whistle ends a round. ☐ The man applying the lock owns its speed. If your partner is hurt on your finish, the fault is yours, whatever his defense did. ☐ Catch and release is the default drilling mode. Build the finish, show the finish, release the finish. Full finishes belong to live rounds between partners who have both passed the checks in this guide, under house rules. ☐ Standing finishes are show speed only in training. A standing double wristlock can put a falling man's whole weight through his own shoulder. It is drilled as shape and control, never as a live finish, in every sane room. ☐ Never train through numbness, tingling, or pain in the shoulder, elbow, or down the arm. Stop, report it, and sit out until it is gone. ☐ Neck cranks and spinal attacks stay where the Holds Reference puts them: control-and-knowledge material. Nothing in this guide changes that rule.
