Twelve weeks, two to three sessions a week. That is a realistic first season of catch wrestling, and this plan spends it the way the art itself spends it: defense first, rides second, finishes third, conditioning underneath everything. Every session is laid out in boxes. Every technique arrives with the week it belongs to. The safety rules are printed once, in full, at the front, and they outrank every other page in this plan.
Safety Rules: No Exceptions
☐ Tap early and tap loud. Tap the mat, tap your partner, say "tap." All three work. Use whichever one you can reach. ☐ The neck and the spine are not training targets. Catch wrestling's library includes neck cranks and spinal attacks. In this plan you learn to recognize them and escape their beginnings. You do not apply them, you do not receive them at pressure, and any partner who cranks one does not train with you again until a coach has dealt with it. ☐ Leg locks in slow motion. Toe holds and ankle locks are first-months material in catch, and they go on at walking speed, with the finish shown, not taken. Heel-twisting holds are recognition only in this plan: learn the shape, tap the moment it forms. ☐ Release on the tap, instantly, every time. No finishing the rep. No one extra second. The tap ends the hold the way a whistle ends a round. ☐ Bridging stays inside your neck's honest range. Build the bridge progressively, feet first, then head-and-feet, never dropping onto the top of your head, and stop any neck work the day it hurts. Numbness, tingling, or pain down an arm ends your session and gets reported to the coach. ☐ No being thrown without a landing you own. Big throws wait until your breakfalls and your bridge are automatic. ☐ Say it if you are hurt. Hiding an injury in a catch room is how a sore neck becomes a lost year.
