Mat Manual companion guide to "Too Many Guards: Choosing the One Guard You Will Actually Play." Print it. The article lays out the three filters. This workbook runs them on your actual body and game: the dabble inventory, the body and temperament worksheets, the matching matrix, a signed commitment to one guard for a season, and the six-week plan that builds its entries, retention, sweep, threat, and recovery.

THE RULE OF THE BOOK ☐ One primary guard for the whole season. Not two favourites. One. ☐ The worksheets are answered honestly, including the answers that flatter nobody. A workbook filled with the student you wish you were selects a guard for a stranger. ☐ The coach sees the decision card (Part 8) before the plan starts. Coaches spot body lies that students cannot. ☐ The survival guard is part of the system, not a failure of it.
Part 1: The Dabble Inventory
List every guard you have deliberately tried in the last six months. Be complete; the museum must be fully catalogued before it is closed.
