SAFETY, BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE ☐ The red flags rule this book: swelling after training, catching, locking, giving way, pain inside the joint line that persists to the next morning, or any twisting incident with a pop or immediate swelling. Any of these ends the aggravating work and takes the assessment route to a qualified clinician. This book never argues with them. ☐ This book does not diagnose and no screen in it is a medical test. Screens assign training or trigger referral. A clinician's plan overrides every page here. ☐ Stretching and mobility work is never forced and never bounced into pain. Sharp pain, joint pain, or pain that changes movement stops the exercise, and the stop is logged. ☐ Kicking volume, pivot volume, and jumping work are reduced on any new training surface until the audit (Part 9) has been run and two clean sessions are logged. ☐ A student returning from any knee or ankle injury re-enters through the clinician's clearance and Part 2's screens, in that order.

Part 1: The Specification

Every drill in this book is measured against this page. Your instructor's standard governs where it differs; the structure does not change.

Part 1: The Specification
ElementThe specification
Pivot timingThe support foot's pivot begins before or as the kick begins, never after it
Pivot placementPivot taken on the ball of the foot, turning to the full angle the kick requires
Knee trackThe standing knee tracks over the foot in pivots, landings, and strength work; inward collapse is a stop-and-correct event
Volume rulePivot volume rises gradually across weeks and drops on any new surface until the grip is learned
Strength standardSingle-leg strength, hip rotation control, and calf/ankle capacity trained every week the student kicks
Pain ruleSwelling, catching, locking, giving way, or pain that changes movement ends the aggravating work and takes the assessment route (Part 2)
Surface ruleFloor and footwear are audited as one system before pivot-heavy blocks (Part 9)
Record rulePain signals and assessments are logged beside training (Part 11), because the history is the system

Scope note. This book is a training system, not a medical text. It does not diagnose. Its assessments are training screens that decide what to train and when to refer, and its referrals go to qualified clinicians whose word overrides every page here.
