SAFETY, BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE ☐ Ukemi before throws, always. No student is thrown, swept at speed, or pushed from standing until the matching fall passes its stage standard in this book. ☐ Never post a straight arm. Any rep where a straight arm reaches for the floor stops the set. Return one stage and rebuild the slap timing. ☐ The head never takes contact. Chin tucked on every rep, at every stage, checked by the partner or instructor on freezes. ☐ Mats and space checked before every falling block: proper mats for the stage, seams covered, a full fall's space in every direction, jewelry off, nails trimmed. ☐ Students with neck, back, wrist, shoulder, or hip problems, a recent head injury, or any condition a clinician has flagged, clear falling work with the instructor and, where needed, a clinician before stage 1. That clearance is recorded here: ______________ ☐ Stop word agreed before partner stages: ______________. One word from anyone ends any rep instantly. ☐ Falling is never a punishment, a dare, or a test of toughness. Any student may sit out any stage and drill the stage below without comment from anyone.
