BEFORE ANYTHING: SCOPE AND SAFETY ☐ This book trains performance nerves — the ordinary alarm of being evaluated. It is not treatment for anxiety disorders. Distress that spreads beyond performance situations, disrupts daily life, or involves panic symptoms belongs with a qualified professional, and a good dojo says so plainly. ☐ No candidate is ever shamed for nerves in this system. Mock gradings are run with the same respect as real ones; the audience rules in Part 3 exist to protect the training effect. ☐ Children test under their instructor's and parents' judgment first. The children's section (Part 8) adapts everything downward in intensity; if a child is distressed rather than nervous, the answer is a later grading, and it costs nothing. ☐ Physical preparation follows the body's reports as always: a candidate nursing an injury tells the instructor before the grading, not the examiner during it.
