Mat Manual companion guide to "Playing De La Riva." Print it. The article explains the outside-hook guard as a full game. This book builds it: hook standards, grip architecture cards for gi and no-gi, sweep cards with dose and pass standards, staged back takes, anti-pass recovery for each way the guard dies, positional games, and the berimbolo printed as a gate, not a technique.

Name: ______________________________ Dojo: ______________________________ Current belt / grade: ______________ Starter book (De La Riva-lite) stable: ☐ Yes, coach-confirmed

BEFORE ANYTHING: SCOPE AND SAFETY ☐ This book is the full game beyond the starter book's De La Riva-lite scope line. If the lite version is not yet stable against a walking passer, that book is your work and your coach confirms the move up. ☐ Tap early and tap clearly, on the mat, on your partner, or verbally. A tap ends the rep at once, whatever was about to happen. Control before submission is the standard on every card in this book: the position is held first, the finish is applied slowly, and the partner's tap is expected and honored before pressure peaks. ☐ Leg and ankle pressure stays inside your format's rules and your coach's teaching for your level. No card in this book asks for twisting leg pressure. If a sweep or entanglement starts to load a knee sideways, stop, unwind, and reset. ☐ Inversion work appears in this book only inside the Part 17 gate: neck readiness, coach sign-off, orientation drills only. No sign-off, no inversion reps, no exceptions negotiated on the mat. ☐ Neck, shoulder, or knee pain that is sharp or still present the next day ends this work and is reported to your coach.
